About Mayor Erica L. Nikolic

Mayor Erica L. Nikolic, Esq., is a proud fourth-generation resident of Oakwood Village whose deep community roots and global perspective define her leadership. A graduate of Bedford High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Policy with a minor in Markets and Management from Duke University, followed by a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law.

Her legal career includes work with top global law firms — Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates — where she served as an attorney, litigation strategist, and securities antitrust litigator. Her work also extended internationally through roles with the United Nations, UNAIDS, and NGOs in Switzerland and Malawi, strengthening her expertise in human rights, gender equity, and public health.

Before becoming Mayor, she served Oakwood Village as Vice Mayor and Council President, championing environmental stewardship, fiscal responsibility, and community development. Today, Mayor Nikolic leads with integrity, collaboration, and vision — dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods, promoting sustainable growth, and ensuring that every Oakwood Village resident thrives.

“My vision for Oakwood Village is rooted in growth, service, and transparency. Together, we will continue to strengthen our community, expand resources, and elevate resident voices. I am seeking to retain my mayoral seat to honor our legacy while preparing the next generation for even greater possibilities. Every resident, whether young, senior, long-time, or newly arrived, deserves the chance to succeed. I remain committed to guiding the Village just as the former mayor did, working towards a future worthy of commemorating Oakwood’s ancestors, scholars, and leaders.”
